Housed in the 18th-century Hôtel Biron, where Auguste Rodin himself lived and worked, the Musée Rodin displays the sculptor's major works both indoors and across a landscaped sculpture garden.
No reservation is required — walk-in admission is available, though online booking is offered for convenience.
History & Architectural Significance
Built in 1730 as a private mansion, the Hôtel Biron later housed a religious school before becoming an informal artists' residence in the early 20th century, among them Auguste Rodin.
Rodin bequeathed his works and collection to the French state in exchange for the right to live there until his death, on condition the building become a museum dedicated to his work — it opened in 1919.
What to See: Top Highlights
The Thinker

The Gates of Hell
Rodin's monumental unfinished bronze portal, inspired by Dante's Inferno.
The Sculpture Garden
