Breakdown by Main Attractions
01. Doge's Palace is never sold as a standalone ticket
Every ticket to the Doge's Palace is actually the combined 'St Mark's Square Museums' ticket — it also includes Museo Correr, the National Archaeological Museum, and the Monumental Rooms of the Biblioteca Marciana, whether you plan to visit them or not. At €35 (or €30 booked online 30+ days ahead), this combined ticket is already cheaper than either Venezia Unica City Pass tier unless you specifically want the pass's other bundled venues (Scuola Grande dei Carmini, Querini Stampalia, or — for the All Venice tier — the wider civic museum network).
02. St Mark's Basilica, Pala d'Oro, the Basilica Museum, and the Campanile are four separate tickets
Basic Basilica admission (€10) does not include the Pala d'Oro golden altarpiece (add €10, or €20 as a combined ticket) or the Basilica Museum/Loggia dei Cavalli/Terrace (add €10-14). The Campanile bell tower (€15) is a fully independent building with its own separate entrance and ticketing system — it is never included with any Basilica ticket. No pass modeled on this page currently includes any of these four components.
03. The Basilica's reservation system is a timed-entry requirement, not a 'skip the line' perk
The Procuratoria di San Marco's own access rules require every tourist ticket-holder to enter within their specific reserved time slot — this is a capacity-management system, not a marketed queue-bypass benefit. There's also a separate, free, no-reservation entrance for visitors attending religious worship or individual prayer, which is a different access category from the paid tourist ticket entirely.
04. The Chorus Pass does not include every paid church in Venice
Santa Maria Gloriosa dei Frari and San Giorgio Maggiore — two of Venice's best-known churches — are both explicitly outside the Chorus circuit; the Frari's own official materials state directly that it does not participate in Chorus Pass, Venezia Unica, or any city pass. The exact current number of Chorus member churches is also not perfectly consistent across the Association's own published materials (published figures range 16-20, with 17-18 the most commonly stated), so treat any specific count as approximate rather than a firm number.
05. A gondola ride is priced per gondola, not per person
The official municipal tariff (€90 daytime / €110 evening, for up to 5 passengers per gondola) is set by the Comune di Venezia and applies regardless of which agency you book through — it's a genuinely fixed rate, unlike many other Venice tourist products. If you're travelling solo or as a couple, the per-person cost is much higher than if you can share a gondola with a full group of 5.
06. ACTV public transport tickets never cover Marco Polo Airport
All standard ACTV tickets (75-minute through 7-day) explicitly exclude travel to and from the airport — getting there requires a separate Aerobus ticket (public bus, from €10 one-way) or Alilaguna (a separate private company's airport boat service, €18 one-way/€32 round-trip). Never assume a multi-day ACTV pass gets you to or from the airport.
Which Option Fits Your Venice Trip?
St Mark's Square Focus, 1 Day
Doge's Palace + St Mark's Basilica + the Campanile individually comes to about €60 (€35 + €10 + €15) — cheaper than the San Marco City Pass (€43.90) plus those same two separate tickets (€68.90 total), since the pass's museum bundle doesn't include the Basilica or Campanile at all.
Museum-Heavy, Multiple Civic Sites
Visiting Doge's Palace plus several of the wider civic network (Ca' Rezzonico, Ca' Pesaro, Palazzo Mocenigo, Casa Goldoni) individually adds up fast (€35 + €15 + €15 + €15 + €7 = €87) — the All Venice City Pass at €62.90 is real savings here, as long as your list is mostly civic museums and not the Basilica, Campanile, or Peggy Guggenheim.
Church & Culture Focus
The Chorus Pass (€15) breaks even at exactly 5 churches at the €3.50 individual rate (5 × €3.50 = €17.50). Visiting 4 or fewer? Pay individually. Just remember the Frari and San Giorgio Maggiore aren't Chorus members and are always ticketed separately regardless.
Gondola + Landmarks + Islands
A solo or small-group traveler who wants Doge's Palace, a gondola ride, and a guided Murano/Burano/Torcello excursion bundled together may come out ahead with Turbopass's Venice City Pass, since booking a private gondola (€90) and a guided island tour (from €29-50) separately adds up quickly for one or two people.
Light Sightseeing, 1-2 Sights
Only want the Doge's Palace? At €35 (or €30 booked ahead), it's cheaper than any pass on this page outright — none of them beat the standalone ticket price for a single-attraction visit.
