Once the largest temple in Greece, the Olympieion took centuries to complete and was finally finished under the Roman emperor Hadrian. Fifteen of its original 104 Corinthian columns still stand.
The fenced archaeological site is compact and quick to visit, and sits a short walk from Hadrian's Arch and the Acropolis.
