The Hanseatic Museum occupies Finnegården, one of Bryggen's original wooden trading houses, furnished to show how German Hanseatic merchants actually lived and worked in Bergen for roughly 400 years. A combined ticket also covers the nearby Schøtstuene — the merchants' assembly rooms, used for cooking, eating, and socializing since open fires were banned inside the wooden trading houses themselves.
What to See: Top Highlights
Original Merchant Living & Trading Quarters
Furnished rooms inside Finnegården recreate the cramped living and working quarters of Hanseatic merchants and their apprentices.
Schøtstuene Assembly Rooms
The separate communal halls where merchants cooked, ate, and held meetings — the only spaces on Bryggen where open fires were historically allowed.
Included Multilingual Guided Tour
Every ticket includes a guided walkthrough at a set departure time, offered across the day in Norwegian, English, French, and German.
