After catastrophic flooding in 1957, Valencia diverted the Turia River around the city and turned its old riverbed into a roughly 9 km ribbon of public parkland. The gardens run the length of the former channel, from Parc de Capçalera in the west — the largest single section, built around an artificial lake — past Gulliver Park to the City of Arts and Sciences at the eastern end. As a public city park, the whole route is free to enter at any time.
What to See: Top Highlights
Parc de Capçalera
The park's largest and westernmost section, built around a landscaped lake — a favorite for walking, running, and cycling loops.
Gulliver Park
A giant lying-down sculpture of Gulliver that children can climb and slide down, one of the gardens' best-known family stops.
Historic Bridges
Several of Valencia's old river bridges — including the Renaissance-era Puente de la Mar — now cross dry parkland instead of water.
