Wander through the historic streets towards the Trevi Fountain. It will be crowded, but the late afternoon light is excellent.

• Avoid eating right in front of the Colosseum; walk a few streets away towards Monti for better lunch options.
• Reservation handling varies by pass: Turbopass books your Colosseum time slot for you at checkout, but Roma Pass and Omnia Card holders must still reserve their own slot on the official ticketing.colosseo.it, using the pass as the admission voucher.

Day 2: The Vatican & Castel Sant’Angelo

Vatican Museums & Sistine Chapel

Book the earliest possible time slot. The museums get overwhelmingly busy by 11:00 AM.

Tickets: Advance booking strongly recommended. Strict dress code.

Duration: 3–4 hours

St. Peter's Basilica

Basilica entry is free, but mandatory security screening applies to every visitor. Climb the Dome for the best views — €17.00 for the stairs-only route (551 steps) or €22.00 with the elevator, which covers the first 231 steps.

Tickets: Free entry, but security queue is mandatory. Dome climb is a separate paid ticket.

Duration: 1.5–2 hours

Castel Sant'Angelo

A great afternoon stop with fantastic views over the Tiber River and St. Peter's.

Tickets: €18 standard ticket, or use one of Roma Pass/Omnia's limited free-choice admissions (shared across Colosseum, Borghese Gallery, and other sites) — either way you still book your own entry slot.

Day 3: Galleria Borghese & Trastevere Charm

Borghese Gallery

One of Rome's most tightly controlled museums. Entry is €16.00 plus a €2.00 mandatory reservation fee that every visitor pays on top, and you have exactly two hours inside — you must leave when your shift ends.

Tickets: Mandatory reservation for every visitor, with no exception for free-admission dates. Strict 2-hour limit. Booking as early as your travel dates allow is advisable — the museum's own page doesn't state an exact advance-booking window, but slots are known to fill up in peak season.

Duration: 120 mins

Travel: 20 mins walking through Villa Borghese

Piazza del Popolo

Stroll down from the Borghese gardens to this grand square. Great spot for photos.

Trastevere

Cross the river to Trastevere. Spend the afternoon wandering the cobbled streets and stop for a traditional Roman lunch.

💡 Practical Tips & Recommendations

• Book the Borghese Gallery as early as possible — the museum's own site doesn't publish an exact advance-booking window, but reservations are known to fill up quickly in peak season. If you have a Roma Pass, you must still book your own time slot yourself; the pass only covers the admission cost, not the reservation.
• The Roma Pass's free-choice quota (2 admissions in 72 hours) is shared across the whole network, not just today's sites — if you already used both choices earlier in your trip (e.g. on the Colosseum and Castel Sant'Angelo), Borghese Gallery here would be at the pass's reduced rate, not free.
