Granada Cathedral is one of Spain's great Renaissance cathedrals, begun in 1523 on the site of the city's former Great Mosque after the 1492 Reconquista. Its white-and-gold interior and monumental facade adjoin the Capilla Real but are a separately ticketed monument, run by the Granada Archdiocese alongside the Cartuja Monastery and other Christian monuments.
