The Capilla Real is the funerary chapel of Isabella I of Castile and Ferdinand II of Aragon — the Catholic Monarchs who completed the Reconquista by capturing Granada in 1492 and chose the city as their burial place. Built in Isabelline Gothic style directly beside Granada Cathedral, its marble royal tombs and gilded altarpiece make it one of the most visited monuments in the city, and a genuinely distinct ticketed site from the adjoining Cathedral.
What to See: Top Highlights

The Golden Altarpiece (Retablo)
A richly gilded Renaissance altarpiece depicting scenes from the Reconquista, including the surrender of Granada.
The Sacristy-Museum
Displays Queen Isabella's own art collection and personal items, including her crown and scepter replicas and Ferdinand's sword.
