Palazzo Strozzi has no permanent collection of its own — it is one of Florence's grandest Renaissance palazzi, run today by the Fondazione Palazzo Strozzi as a rotating temporary-exhibition venue. Its Renaissance courtyard is a free public passage at all times, independent of whatever exhibition is showing inside.
Ticket prices are tied to the current exhibition and change with each new show. As of this audit, the showing exhibition is 'Broken — The Power of the Fragment' (25 September 2026-24 January 2027): €20 for an open-date ticket (any date/time), €15 for a dated ticket (specific date/time), €12 for under-30, €5 for youth (ages 6-18), and €25 for a family ticket (1-2 adults plus at least one child, max 6 people).
Open daily 10:00-20:00, with extended hours to 23:00 on Thursdays. Because the price is exhibition-specific, re-check the official site for the current show's price if visiting after this exhibition closes.
History & Significance
Construction began in 1489 for Filippo Strozzi the Elder, a Medici rival, and continued after his death until 1538 — one of the last and largest private palazzi of the Florentine Renaissance, deliberately built to rival the Medici's own residences.
Since 2006, the Fondazione Palazzo Strozzi has run the building as a major contemporary and modern art exhibition space, hosting large-scale rotating shows — including a 'Beato Angelico' exhibition co-presented with the Museo di San Marco — rather than displaying a fixed collection.

The Free Renaissance Courtyard
A grand arcaded courtyard, open to the public at no charge regardless of the paid exhibition inside.
Rusticated Stone Facade
One of the most imposing examples of Florentine Renaissance palazzo architecture, built to rival the Medici.
Open-Date vs. Dated Tickets
An open-date ticket (€20) can be used any day; a dated ticket (€15) is cheaper but fixes a specific visit date and time.
