Zoo Miami is the only tropical zoo in the continental United States and the largest zoological park in Florida, spread across roughly 750 acres in southern Miami-Dade County. Its cageless, open-air exhibits recreate habitats from the Everglades, Amazon, Africa, Australia, and Asia, with more than 3,000 animals across around 500 species connected by four miles of walkways.
What to See: Top Highlights
Asian and African Habitats
Wide, open-air exhibits with elephants, giraffes, and rhinos set among naturalistic landscaping rather than traditional cages.
Amazon & Beyond
A recreated South American rainforest habitat with jaguars, tapirs, and free-flying macaws.
Zoo Miami Safari Cycles & Monorail
Paid add-on rentals for covering the park's four miles of walkways, useful given the zoo's size.
