Overview & History

St. Stephen's Basilica is Budapest's largest church, holding the mummified right hand of Hungary's first king as its most famous relic. Since December 1, 2025, entry to the church hall itself requires a ticket — the panoramic terrace and treasury are priced separately, or bundled into an all-in-one combo.

What to See: Top Highlights

The Church Hall

A vast Neoclassical interior capable of holding 8,500 people, with the country's largest bell in its tower.

🖐️

The Holy Right Hand

The basilica's most venerated relic — the mummified right hand of King (later Saint) Stephen I.

🌆

The Panoramic Terrace

360-degree views over Budapest from the dome's exterior walkway, reachable by elevator or a 200-step climb.
