Palazzo d'Accursio (also called Palazzo Comunale) has been Bologna's town hall since the medieval era and still houses the mayor's offices today. It fronts directly onto Piazza Maggiore and combines civic government with two visitor attractions: the Torre dell'Orologio (Clock Tower), climbable to two panoramic terraces, and the Collezioni Comunali d'Arte (Municipal Art Collections).
With the Asinelli Tower currently closed for maintenance, the Clock Tower is effectively Bologna's main climbable viewpoint over the historic center for the time being.
