CRITICAL FACT, independently confirmed via the chapel's own official Musei Reali page: the actual Shroud relic is NOT displayed or stored in this chapel. It has been kept since 1993 in a protective conservation case in a separate chapel in the last bay of the left nave of Turin Cathedral (Duomo di Torino), next door, and is exhibited to the public only rarely, at intervals decided by the Vatican — it was NOT on public display as of this audit's verification date. This chapel (Guarini's Baroque architectural work, reopened 27 Sept 2018 after a 21-year restoration following a 1997 fire) is part of the UNESCO World Heritage 'Residences of the Royal House of Savoy' listing.
