历史与意义
伦敦大火于 1666 年 9 月 2 日凌晨在布丁巷（Pudding Lane）托马斯·法里诺（Thomas Farynor）的面包店爆发，烧毁了伦敦金融城 80% 以上的区域，并在随后几天里使约 10 万人无家可归。
这座纪念柱建于 1671 年至 1677 年，用以纪念大火和金融城的重建，由克里斯托弗·雷恩（Christopher Wren，重建后圣保罗大教堂的设计者）与罗伯特·胡克（Robert Hooke）合作设计，至今仍是金融城复兴的标志性象征。
