歴史と重要性
教皇カッリスト1世にちなんで名付けられました。彼は教皇になる前、助祭としてこの墓地を管理していました。3世紀初頭から、このカタコンベは初期ローマ教会の公式な埋葬地となり、歴代の複数の教皇が埋葬された専用の地下聖堂もあります。
